Summer storms

I'm not going to lie I love them... so much anticipation and excitement. When you see one rolling in, the sky slowly turns black and ominous as it creeps towards you. Your toes curl as you can hear the first clap of thunder still in the distance and you just know this is going to be a good one. My sister in law Katie is the same way, as soon as I see those clouds I can count on a text from her with an "oooh, look whats coming..." We had one of those last week and I managed to capture a couple of shots of that crazy beautiful sky after it had past.

Peach Cobbler

Every Wednesday we have girls day with a couple of great friends. I'm not sure if it is the cool mornings or the fact that my little backyard tree has a branch of gold and crimson leaves but I have already turned the corner in my mind. Autumn is my favorite season. While I know most Calgarians would shoot me for saying this, I long for it to come every August. This past Wednesday was a cool one. The skies dark threatening rain most of the day. I decided it was time for the first batch of peach cobbler of the year! Alice was my handy assistant, more than willing to lend a hand. Or reach for the bowl to help stir :) {side note: I think I am going to make Alice a little apron out of a white linen napkin... stay tuned for my attempts!}

Back to the cobbler... (sorry I do not use an exact recipe for this one)
I started with four peaches, sliced them fairly thin

at the bottom of the dish I sprinkled nutmeg and cinnamon then layered the peaches and added a few cubes of butter and more spice

{Intermission} I let Alice "try" a banana, I think she was more interested in the texture :)

She didn't like it...

{We're Back} Next you melt about 3/4 of a cup of butter and add enough brown sugar that it can all melt and look like this:

Then I add oats into the mixture (just enough to be covered in the sugar mixture) and more nutmeg and cinnamon

Then top the peaches with your oat mixture and bake at 350 for 30 minutes

I promise you will not be able to stand the smell as it bakes it is amazing!!!
Enjoy!

Hello All!!!

This blog is mostly for the Grandparents to keep up with Miss Alice... however I am also going to use it to post family photos and collect my favorite things. I have tried the personal blogging world once before, a couple of years ago on Once upon a Holiday it was brief. Since then I have mostly been blogging on Tickled Pink Photography my little company but it doesn't feel right to be posting so many personal photos and I wanted somewhere to write about our little adventures this year... So this is where I am going to do it. I hope you enjoy my little blog, feel free to comment!
